FasTracKids Jr. STEAM Enrichment is the Flagship Preschool Enrichment program which started it all and still is the ONLY summer gifted and talented program for children ages 3-5 years old.  Designed by experts in Gifted & Talented Education, the Jr. Summer STE(A)M Academy Exposes Children to 12 STE(A)M based topics through an inquiry-based learning approach, while simultaneously developing young children’s concentration skills, leadership skills, communications skills, critical thinking skills, and more. This program has been scientifically proven to help children learn 2x faster than their peers! (Learn more about the Wellesley College study)

Paint, Sculpt, Create!

Picasso once said, “Everything you imagine is real.” In this class we are going to put his quote to work! Be ready to stretch your imagination and create your own unique Picasso inspired artwork. We will be experimenting with collage, painting, chalk, 3D art and drawing on canvases in this class. Week 2: Ocean Adventure – Marine Biology

July 10th – July 14th

Explore the wonders of the great deep oceans.

How does the ocean support life? Embark on a virtual tour of aquatic creatures great and small. We travel from seashores to Arctic and Antarctic oceans to explore the depths of the ocean floor.  Work collaboratively and individually to explore and understand how the marine environment functions.

Learn about climate, geological features and nature.

Week 4: Destination Constellation – Astronomy

July 24th – July 28th

Reach for the sun, moon and stars.

Blast off for an out-of-this-world tour of the solar system and beyond! On our journey we will visit stars, explore our planets, and investigate cutting-edge topics including life in other parts of the universe, black holes, and unusual galactic behavior. Week 5: Electrical Engineering – Technology

July 31st – August 4th

Hands-on electrical experiments and how things work.

How do electrical circuits work? The lessons in this course will get you thinking and problem solving like an electrical engineer. We will be reading the book, A Reminder for Emily, about a girl living in the Australian outback who needs an alarm to remind her when it’s time for chores around the ranch. The hands-on activities in this course reinforce science concepts including conductors and insulators, schematic diagrams, and circuits. For the final engineering design challenge, you will plan, create, and improve your own alarm circuit.

Week 6: Marketing Your Favorite Toy – Economics

August 7th – August 11th

Learn the basics of marketing and advertising.

Toy marketing is serious business! Learn how to develop a marketing plan for your favorite toy. Apply business and mathematics skills to predict and track your favorite toy’s sales. Develop a marketing strategy and advertising budget to maximize your toy’s brand recognition and assist your classmates with their marketing plans. Collaborate to develop a new toy, its packaging and its marketing plan.

Week 7: Computer Coding – Technology

August 14th – August 18th

Explore computer software, apps and websites.

Young scientists will explore what makes it possible for us to create computer software, apps and websites. In this unit students will be introduced to conditionals, algorithms and debugging. They’ll participate in online and “unplugged” activities. The hands on activities are designed to encourage problem solving as students are introduced to the science of computer coding.create interactive stories, animations, games, and/or music – all while learning the fundamentals of computer programming.

Week 8: Young Scientists, Old Bones – Archaeology

August 21st – August 25th

Children will uncover dinosaur bones in their own archaeology dig site!

Your child will meet Dr. Dino, a paleontologist who will guide the students as they explore the land of dinosaurs with his friend Terrance, the flying reptile. Don’t miss the FasTracKids Dinosaur Museum, which will showcase your child’s projects!

The Human Body & Healthy Habits
