In keeping our finger on the pulse of education, we’ve come across a few articles expressing that the U.S. is slipping in Math performance on the international stage. We think there is much room for improvement – here is regional director Franco Verdino on the topic:
When we run our summer programs, we always have children do their math in the morning. We recommend that students enrolled in our math enrichment program do the additional review work before school. In my travels through South Korea one of the interesting things that I learned is that most children do their supplemental math lessons before school with their breakfast. This article outlines the importance.
Why are we discussing this? We’ve been reporting on overall U.S. student Math performance it has been slipping in the past few years. Based on this article, it continues to slip. Here at FasTracKids we are committed to reversing that trend and helping the US remain an international academic contender. Our children need encouragement beyond the classroom. The importance of supplementing your child’s math instruction outside of school here in the US and worldwide is what will allow children to progress and transition well into high school and college math.
Because AP says (link has been removed since first publishing) just one third of 12th graders are ready for academic challenges of college, it is not enough to study grade level math. They must study ahead of their grade level is they want to be ready for the next step – whether that is high school, college, or the international workforce.
