Introducing the FasTracKids STE(A)M Focused Programs.

STE(A)M is much more than an acronym. STE(A)M really is a philosophy or a way of thinking about how educators at all levels – including parents – should be helping students integrate knowledge across disciplines, encouraging them to think in a more connected and holistic way.

How Did You Hear About Us?

A letter from our regional director, Franco Verdino:

Experts in education, industry, and national security all agree that there is a national imperative to graduate students with a thorough understanding of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STE(A)M)  Public and private leaders have concluded that the nation’s capacity to innovate and thrive in the modern workforce depends on a solid foundation of math and science learning.

Many parents and teachers wonder, at what age is it appropriate to start teaching STE(A)M and how can we implement these concepts into early childhood education? The answer is: It is never too early to begin STE(A)M education! Young children are natural-born scientists and engineers.

Our knowledge of how people learn has grown tremendously over the past few decades.  We now understand that success in learning requires the learner to be at the center of the experience (aka: child centered approach), making connections across disciplines and also across contextual settings.  Children need to be presented opportunities to learn the same material in different ways and through different experience.  The traditional approach of teaching topics in isolation does not lend itself to the ways that children learn best.

At FasTracKids we believe in a multisensory approach where children can experience the learning and apply and transfer knowledge through a fun interactive approach. The FasTracKids Preschool STE(A)M Focused Program takes an active, interactive approach to tap into the natural curiosity of a child and give them ample opportunities to be active participants in their own learning.

The FasTracKids Learning Station and classroom settings offer children unlimited opportunities to explore and investigate, helping them build STE(A)M skills that create a solid foundation for future learning.

At FasTracKids we understand that children are more competent in math and science than teachers and parents realize.  We also understand that gender and socioeconomically gaps related to STE(A)M develop sometime in the preschool years and tend to grow as children move through the primary grades. Read a recent blog post about young girls and science. FasTracKids knows that in order to teach STE(A)M in early childhood classrooms, you don’t have to know all of the answers, but you do need to know the right questions.

    We ask questions that:

    • Focus on helping children understand concepts
    • Encourage children to use analysis and reasoning skills
    • Support children to link concepts across activities
    • Help children apply concepts to their everyday world
    • Spark children’s creativity about ideas
    • Support children to observe and evaluate their ideas and conclusions
    • Help children to think about their own process of thinking
    • And at FasTracKids, we are not afraid to use academic language

We also have a unique approach to teaching children how to communicate and express their ideas and findings in a manner in which will teach them future oral presentation skill which are vital to their success. Read our page on in-class video taping.

FasTracKids supports every child to be a scientist, Engineer, Techie and Mathematician!  We even include a special focus on art as well!  Building on children’s early STE(A)M competencies through our intentional use of questions that promote higher-level (Critical thinking skills) can make a difference for bright young children!

Children can attend one of of our STE(A)M focused preschool programs such as FasTracKids Explorers for children ages 2-3.5 years old, FasTracKids Discoverers for children ages 3 to 5 years old, and FasTracKids Advanced Discoverers for children ages 4-5.

For children who currently attend other preschool, home-school, or daycare centers, our FasTracKids Core Enrichment supplemental program provides a rock solid STE(A)M focused experience which is world renown!  Available in over 52 countries worldwide, children attend 1 time per week, for 2 hours as this program includes 96 unique lessons.  Children graduate with a FasTracKids Diploma upon completion of this unique 2-year developmental process.  As they get older they can continue to participate in our FasTracKids Science Enrichment program and/or in our Math Enrichment Program.
