A recent article on the Hechinger Report states that “the math achievement of American high school students in 2015 fell for the second time in a row in a major international benchmark, pushing the U.S. down to the bottom half of 72 nations who participate in the international ‘Program for International Student Assessment’ or PISA.”
Alarming, yes? What has happened here? Partially, it is because we have turned our children into test taking machines instead of independent thinkers. Also, our education cycle is repetitive and continues to feed the same concepts over and over, even if the child hasn’t fully grasped them.
We strive to offer curriculum that supplements what children learn in school. Our Math Tutoring and Enrichment program is customized to each child’s needs. We start the child in an appropriate place, on an appropriate concept, and only let them progress when they have fully realized the mathematical concept and can pass a test with flying colors.
Our Math tutoring teachers recognize each child’s style of learning. This is special and different than typical tutoring centers because we are not trying to teach the child just one way of doing things. We open up to their personality and address their needs accordingly.
Some children learn faster than others and get left behind in school. Not here in our Math tutoring and enrichment programs. It’s our mission to help educate our youngest minds and improve the overall academic (and gifted & talented) performance of the U.S.
If you or someone you know has a child that has trouble with math at any age up to 14, please do sign up for a free placement evaluation or forward this article to someone who may need it.
