After reading this article about handwriting on TheConversation.com, I decided to post a write a response.
Young children should be encouraged to write from an early age. Early scribbles are valuable first steps to help your child develop their fine motor skills. In addition you want to make sure that your child’s preschool is adequately factoring in the teaching and exploring of writing with children. Children should learn using toys and other manipulative a to formulate letters and by the time pre-k 4 is complete, they should be able to write letters and numbers fully on their own.
I have seen children come to me who absolutely hated kindergarten because they had could not write and their teachers and curriculum standards require then to write.
Start early, encourage writing as soon as possible and continue to develop your child’s abilities in this area up until they are fully capable to do so in advance of kindergarten. You will save you and your child lots of grief in the process .
Also , if you need assistance with helping your child learn how to properly write please look into our handwriting without tears programs designed for children of all ages from 2 years and up.
